Darnhill Festival 2016

02 July 2016

Saturday 02 July 2016
12.00pm - 5.00pm

Argyle Parade
Darnhill
Heywood
OL10 3RY

Details:

The theme for this year’s Darnhill Festival is The Water Cycle, so expect a torrent of fun and games. Ben Turner, Festival Co-ordinator, is aware of the risks – “Darnhill Festival is known for being lucky with the weather, so a water theme is a real challenge, but we are hoping for blazing sunshine – as usual!”

The procession will set off at 12 noon from Argyle Parade on Saturday 2 July, followed by a full programme of entertainment and activities during the afternoon.

This year the festival will be visited by a Whale. Not just any whale mind you, this one is made of metal and swallows audiences one or two at a time for an unforgettable theatre experience.

There will be several marquees with activities galore for people to participate in, from tie dyeing to clay boggart making. Skylight Circus Arts will be keeping plenty of plates spinning. Link4Life will be running multi activity sessions on the kickpitch. And watch out for the Water Cycle itself – you might be able to have a pedal. There’s going to be something for everyone!

ALL.fm are also with us this year in the Tell Us Another One tent where you can have a go at radio broadcasting. There will also be listening booths in the Library where you can hear some fantastic water-themed radio plays created by pupils from 5 Heywood primary schools. You will also be able to pick up a beautifully illustrated book about the stories they have written.

Darnhill Festival 2016 takes place on Saturday 2 July in and around Argyle Parade. The 13th consecutive summer festival organised by Cartwheel Arts on behalf of Darnhill Festival Association promises to be the biggest yet.
