Backed by National Lottery Funding, Housing association Contour is working with Be Inspired to deliver the 6-week course, which starts next week.
Be Inspired are a digital inclusion organisation who work across the country to deliver a range of digital training programmes to help people get online.
Learners will attend weekly, two-hour sessions with a tutor, where they will learn how to:
Those who join the course will have the use of laptop computers throughout the programme and, on completion, will have the option to take an online exam to gain a City and Guild basic level qualification.
Contour’s community investment officer, Shanine Meadowcroft said: “With many services moving online, including Universal Credit, it’s really important residents have the skills, knowledge and confidence to use the internet.
“These sessions are just one way Contour is helping tenants get one-to-one support in their neighbourhood, and it’s a great opportunity to learn new skills and get a free qualification.”
Sessions start on Monday 27th February, 9.30am-11.30am, Middleton Lighthouse, S6b/c Middleton Shopping Centre, Limetrees Road.
For more information or to sign up for the course please call Shanine Meadowcroft on 0345 602 1120.
