New premises drive growth for Barnes Logistics

Date published: 18 July 2016

Barnes Logistics is planning to invest in staff and drive sales after moving to new premises in Rochdale.

Barnes moved from Oldham after purchasing its new premises in Rochdale. The new premises are better equipped for Barnes’ requirements.

Chris Barnes, owner and managing director of Barnes Logistics, said: “The Rochdale site is a far superior building in a much better location, allowing us to streamline our operations.

“Over the next year we plan to keep increasing sales by continuing to provide an extremely high standard of service and investing further in our workforce.”

Barnes provides logistical and warehousing services for a range of industries including textile, automotive and food manufacturing. Operating with a fleet of more than 50 vehicles from depots around the UK, the supplier delivers ‘just in time’ solutions for manufacturing businesses.

The business, which was established in 2004 by owner and managing director Chris Barnes, employs 80 staff and says it prides itself on investing in its employees. All of the management team are qualified to degree level and hold Transport Manager Certificates of Professional Competence (CPC). The drivers are qualified, experienced and trained to cater to the varying needs of the customer base.

The deal for the funding was arranged by Helen Miller, relationship manager at Yorkshire Bank in Manchester.

Paul Grace, Yorkshire Bank’s Head of Commercial, Small Business & Private Banking for Manchester and Bolton, said: “Over the last 12 years, Barnes Logistics has grown to become a leading supplier for time-critical firms due to the business’ knowledgeable management team and commitment to investing.

“We are proud to have helped the firm purchase its own premises through our SME lending initiatives and will continue to support Chris in reaching the business’ future goals.”
