A successful launch party was held for Littleborough’s first plant-based café on Monday (3 December).
Approximately 25 privately invited guests turned out to celebrate the opening of The Veggie Vixen on Victoria Street, which is the brainchild of Naomi and Toby Rhys Thomas, who bought the former Wellbeing Café at auction earlier this year.
The fox-themed café is the couple’s first in the Rochdale borough, following on from their successful non-profit venture ‘Meow’ in Todmorden, which raises much-needed funds for Bluebell Cat Rescue and Oakfield Cat Sanctuary.
A variety of canapés, gin and prosecco were served alongside a special vixen-themed salted caramel cake.
Cutting the cake, Naomi thanked everyone for their support, commenting: “The community has been so receptive. Thank you to everyone here tonight, and everyone who has supported Meow, Kate [Coop – Meow’s manager] and Clare, and my wonderful husband, Toby.”
The Veggie Vixen will be managed by Clare O’Hearne, herself a previous Meow customer, and will serve an array of plant-based dishes without dairy or eggs, including toasties, burgers, coffee and cakes, which will all be vegan-friendly.
Clare added: “There’s definitely a market for a plant-based and milk-free diet in Littleborough.”
The Veggie Vixen opens on Thursday 6 December and will be open Thursdays and Fridays (10.30am to 3pm), and Saturdays (10.30am to 4pm). and Sundays (11am to 4pm).
