Ever fancied something a bit different from the usual, kebab, burger or fried chicken when you are out and about in Rochdale Town Centre? Then why not about stop off for a burrito at Uncle Albert’s mobile catering unit in The Butts?

A burrito? No, we didn’t know what one was either until we tried one. They are a wonderful Mexican dish made with beef, onion, tomato and chilli with rice wrapped in a traditional tortilla and served freshly-cooked and piping hot. They really are deliciously different.

Uncle Albert’s tries to be different. They avoid the tried, tested and often monotonous and go instead for an ever-changing range of eye-catching and mouth-watering snacks such as beef bolognaise, Mexican chicken or freshly-baked potatoes with a variety of tasty fillings.

Brian Sutcliffe, the proprietor of Uncle Albert’s was surprised at just how quickly their succulent burritos took off in Rochdale. He said: “We did feel that there was some sort of a gap in the market but right from the moment we began selling them, sales exceeded expectations by 50%. It has been phenomenal.”

Brian, who has been in business in Rochdale for over twenty years, also owns another mobile unit on Yorkshire Street selling beautiful fresh donuts and also a sandwich shop on Halifax Road which sells sandwiches.

“It was my wife who came up with the name ‘Uncle Albert’s’ explains Brian. “We had an oven called Albert and she thought that it would be a good name for the business.”

Brian doesn’t just sell burritos, if you are thinking of holding an event, in addition to its sandwich shop and mobile catering units; Uncle Albert’s also provides a buffet service. “We can provide a fast, efficient and competitively-priced service based on the customer’s individual requirements and budget.” Brian tells us.

“We will meet with the customer to see exactly what it is they need and when they need it, work out a price to suit their pocket and take it from there.”

Brian always has an eye on the future and if things go according to plan, he would also like to provide a seating area in The Butts for his customers as well as a range of speciality coffees.

So, if you are in the town centre, feel a bit peckish and fancy something a bit different then why not pop over to Brian’s green catering unit on The Butts and grab yourself a burrito?

Open from 10.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Saturday.
