Christmas can a stressful time so if you want to indulge yourself in some great festive wining and dining yet save yourself the tiring trail around crowded supermarkets, together with the time and trouble involved in cooking and preparation, not to mention the seemingly endless washing up afterwards, then Milnrow’s John Milne could be just the place for you.

Situated conveniently close to the end of Junction 21, it is also the ideal venue to meet up with friends and family and to relax in their comfortable well-appointed restaurant or well-furnished bar area.

John Milne’s aim is to offer you their best Christmas ever with a choice of great menus to suit all tastes and pockets.

Their Festive Lunch programme, offered on Mondays to Thursdays from 20 November to 13 December, offers great value for money. Two courses cost just £9.99 or three courses for £12.99. All menus include both vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices and a £5.00 deposit is required when booking. Children under 12 eat for only £6.99.

From 20 November until 30 December (excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day) their Celebration Menu is available all day. The price is £15.99 with children paying just £6.99.

For something extra special, you can indulge yourself with the full-blown Christmas Day lunch. This very special menu is £44.99; only £15.99 for children and under-5’s getting away with it Scot-free! Places are eagerly sought-after and a deposit of £10 for adults and £5.00 for children secures your booking.

The festive fun doesn’t just end on Christmas Day. Those who choose not to spend the following day walking off the Christmas calories can choose John Milne’s Boxing Day menu at £19.99; again with generous reductions for children under 12 with under-5s eating for free yet again. A deposit of £5.00 per adult is required for this event.

As well as serving excellent food, the John Milne has a great range of real ales, branded beers, lagers and ciders plus all the usual spirits that you would expect to see in a well-stocked bar together with an exciting range of cocktails and non-alcoholic mocktails.

Their wine list has something for everyone so whether or not you wish to push the boat out with a bottle of Charles Joubert NV champagne or go for a robust Wolfe Blass Bilyara Shiraz; there is a wide range to choose from and most wines can be bought by the glass as well as the bottle.

I was there with my grandchildren earlier in the year and as they slurped happily on their soft drinks, I sampled the superb Villa Maria New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc with its intense lime and gooseberry notes and long finish. This is a really great wine from the renowned Marlborough region and provides an ideal accompaniment any fish or poultry dish.

The John Milne is part of the Table Table network which has done so much in recent years to lift the bar in family style pub-restaurants. A high store is set by offering maximum standards in customer choice, quality and service and delivering all of these at prices that often leave you pleasantly surprised when it comes to settling the bill.

John Milne’s location not far from a motorway exit makes them ideally placed to build up a loyal local clientele but also cater for people visiting the area on leisure or business.

It is set in an attractively landscaped, tranquil location with ample car parking and a well-appointed beer garden.

The John Milne also serves breakfasts until 10.30am as well as offering their non-seasonal menus which are changed regularly and offer freshly prepared, succulent main meals from as little as £4.99.

Their website offers an online booking service and gives you a speedy and hassle-free way to reserve your table.
