The Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor James Gartside, was in Middleton this week to officially open a new centre which hopes to help other local businesses to succeed.

4front marketing, who offer a wide range of business marketing services and supplies is hoping that their new venture on Market Place will be a welcome resource for other local business people.

Owner, Peter Winkler, who is already involved in community business projects in the borough said: “We work with all kinds of businesses to improve their marketing. The uncertain economy is making it tough for everyone at the moment, but we hope that we will be able to help other business make the most of every opportunity.”

“This is not a new venture; we already work with lots of businesses and organisations in Middleton and the surrounding areas. We have been based in a business centre previously but are hoping that a move onto the high street will make us more accessible to the business people who need the services that we offer. Our location opposite the new Middleton Arena will be great for our customers as it is close to the town centre with easy access and nearby parking.”

Peter explained that the building has a family history of over 20 years that has seen it used as a ladies fashion store run by his mother and an engineering office by his father. Now he hopes to follow in their footsteps with the new sign and print centre.

“The decision to move to Middleton was easy, with great links to Manchester and surrounding towns plus the family history it made perfect sense. Middleton is a great town for independent business and we want to be a part of that.”

The area around Market Place has seen several developments in recent years including the building of the Middleton Arena, refurbishment of buildings and there are more projects and heritage work planned.

At the official opening the Mayor was invited to welcome guests and perform a ceremonial ribbon cutting before trying his hand with some of the sign making equipment. Councillor Gartside pressed a metal plaque which will be mounted in the shop to commemorate the opening.
