Shop at small businesses and support the local economy

Small Business Saturday is taking place this year on Saturday 6 December and is a grassroots campaign which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.

Littleborough and Milnrow 12 Days of Christmas treasure trail and 'Pennine Hog Roast'.

Littleborough and Milnrow town centres are compact and easy to explore, full of surprises and great places to visit.

If you spend £10 in a small business in the Pennines Township on Small Business Saturday, take your receipt to Littleborough Square and enjoy a complimentary hog roast – courtesy of the Pennines Business & Tourism Forum.

Children can also take part in a Christmas gift hunt in Littleborough town centre for a chance to win £50 to spend in Littleborough shops.

Find 12 hidden gifts around Littleborough shops, they may be in the window or inside the shop. Each gift has a tag to let you know what’s inside. Write down the gift next to the shop where you found it and post your completed entries in the post box inside Star Tree Studios located on Victoria street.

Local shops and businesses around the Pennines will also be taking part in a Christmas window dressing competition, judged by Simon Danczuk MP on 6 December.

Middleton Christmas shopping vouchers

The Middleton Town Centre Management Company is working with local shops and businesses to produce a Christmas voucher scheme providing fantastic offers and discount vouchers in the run up to Christmas. Shoppers can use their vouchers from 6 December – 24 December and support Small Business Saturday and shop local in Middleton.

Local shops and businesses will also be taking part in the Christmas window dressing competition which will be judged on 6 December by the newly appointed MP for Heywood & Middleton Liz McKinnes.

Norden

On Saturday 6 December Norden businesses and shops will be taking part in Small Business Saturday; your chance to celebrate the fantastic small businesses and show your local shopkeepers that you really appreciate them. Get out there, shop local and support the businesses on your doorstep.

Heywood

Heywood offers a compact town centre with a superb range of independent shops and quality businesses.

Heywood Magic Market has a variety of stalls and trusted traders and car parking is free after 3pm weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Rochdale

Santa’s Reindeers will be flying into Rochdale Town Centre and resting on The Butts between 11am - 3pm on Saturday 6 December where children can pet the reindeers and visit Santa in his grotto at Touchstones, Rochdale.

Bookings required to visit Santa. Cost £6.50 per child.

Bookings can be made in person or by telephone to Rochdale Visitor Information Centre on 01706 924 928.

Story telling will be held in the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre and Touchstones along with children’s rides, stalls and brass bands on The Butts all adding to a magical day’s entertainment.

Don’t forget - children can bring along their letters to Santa and hand these in to his Elves at the reindeer pen. You can take your own photographs sat in Santa's sleigh.

The Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre Craft Street Fayre provides a great chance for you to make some handmade Christmas gifts.
