Thousands attend funeral of popular Farhan Majid

Date published: 22 January 2014

Over 3,000 people, some from as far away as Edinburgh, Scotland, attended the funeral of Farhan Majid at the Central Mosque on Mere Street.

The funeral followed Friday prayers at the mosque.

Mr Majid was described by Mufti Zaid Mohammed as a man who was always smiling, a very humble person who got on with all age groups.

Following prayers for Mr Majid he was taken to Rochdale Cemetery for burial.

Mr Majid, 35, died of multiple injuries after a car accident on the A680 Rochdale Road just after midnight on Wednesday 8 January.
