Heroes of Hornets: Brothers in Arms

To commemorate the centenary of the commencement of World War One Rochdale Hornets will recognise the bravery of the players who swapped their club's colours for regimental colours, as the culmination of their forthcoming Heritage Festival - a series of events taking place in December to celebrate the club's rich history.

The Annual Heroes of Hornets presentation - themed this year around Brothers in Arms - recognises individuals past and present who have made a heroic contribution to the club throughout its history. This year the club will proudly honour those who represented their club, their town and their country with distinction.

Brothers in Arms - the 2014 Heroes of Hornets Induction Dinner takes place on Thursday 11 December at Spotland Stadium at 7.30pm. For further information call Ryan Bradley at Rochdale Hornets on 01706 648004.

Lions Festive 9s

Rochdale Hornets will be supporting the entry of two teams into a 'Lions Festive 9s' competition, which will take place at Sedgely Park on 28 December.

The club will support both Fiji UK and a Rochdale Town Team to enter the competition being run by fellow fan owned club Swinton Lions.

Further information will be circulated in due course.

On the way to Superleague

Rochdale Hornets launched the new RFL Player Performance programme at Matthew Moss High School and had over fifty players attend the three day course.

There was a special visit on day one of the course, as Hornets partner club St Helen's brought the Super League trophy and Hornets first team player Paul Crook was also on hand to pass on his expertise.

The camp was made possible with sponsorship from Safeguard.

Claire moves on...

Claire Compston (nee Godding) has completed her final week with the club.

Claire has earned many friends at the club over the past 18 months and leaves with the club's best wishes as she looks to continue her journey towards becoming a chartered accountant.

Claire started the club as a Business Apprentice and after completing her first 12 months with flying colours agreed to stay on permanently as a Business and Finance Administrator.

She has recently completed further AAT courses and leaves to take up a position with a local accountancy firm which will help her progress towards her dream role.

Ryan Bradley commented: “We have come along way in the last couple of years and that is down in part to the hard work and personable touch Claire borough to the club.

"I wish her well in her new role and I’m sure she will get to where she wants to be.

"Claire is impossible to replace, so we aren’t even going to try.

"We will go back to the drawing board in terms of staffing and ensure that we get the right people in to take us forward.”

Kay is staying!

Kay Doherty has made a u-turn and signed on for a tenth season with the club.

Kay had initially decided to call it a day as the club's physiotherapist but the lure of another promotion winning season proved to much for her to turn down.

“Its good to have mother hen back again,” commented club captain Wayne English.

“She is the best physio around without doubt and will play a massive part in our challenge for the title next season.”
