Coventry Bears 10 - 35 Rochdale Hornets

Date published: 04 May 2015

Rochdale Hornets recorded a comprehensive victory at Coventry Bears in a game they dominated from start to finish. The half time score gave the impression that Bears were still in the game, the reality was that had Hornets been more clinical with their finishing, the game would have been over at half time. As it was, Hornets continued their domination in the second half and were far more clinical about their finishing.

Bears opened the scoring after just six minutes when luck shined on them as a loose pass fell perfectly for winger Dan Parker to sprint across the Hornets line. The conversion attempt by Stephen Coleman missed.

Hornets dominated the next twenty minutes creating three clear cut chances and having two scores disallowed before they finally got on the score sheet. Dale Bloomfield touching down out wide to level the score. Langley missed the conversion.

Captain Wayne English was next to cross the line and Gareth Langley converted to give Hornets a six point half time lead.

Walker added his second try for Hornets ten minutes later, and Gareth Langley's successful conversion gave Hornets a commanding 18 point lead, putting the game well beyond Bears' reach.

Hornets continued to press and an aggresive push resulted in a Warren Thompson try. Langley with the extras.

Next on the score sheet was Danny Bridge. Langley again successful with the conversion.

To their credit, Bears did not give up and a short period of concerted pressure saw Cameron Boulter cross the line for a consolation try late in the game. Coleman added the extras.
