Young people volunteer to donate food to the homeless

Date published: 25 May 2016

A group of young people have been working together as volunteers to donate food to the homeless charity Petrus. As well as food, the group were able to donate hygiene products and a few items of clothing, which were gratefully received by staff at Petrus and will be passed on to the charity’s service-users.

The young people, who regularly volunteer for Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN), decided they wanted to do something for the homeless population of Rochdale. GMYN provided the group with a small budget, time, and a space to think about what they wanted to do after the young people mentioned a desire to support the homeless community.

Chris Woodward, staff member at Petrus, said: “I would like to say a big thank you to all the group from GMYN. The donations that were collected will go to great use and really make a difference to those individuals experiencing being homeless. The group are a real inspiration to everyone in our community.”
