The Chloe Cockton In Loving Memory Event, which was held to pay tribute to the teenager last week, has raised about £6,500.

The event was held in the Flying Horse last Sunday (7 August) and raised £3,500 on the day along with an additional £3,000 online.

Jonathan Riley, who was involved in the organisation of the event, said: “Overall we were very proud of the support for the family. We just want to say a big thank you to everyone who was involved and everyone who attended to show their support.

“It was a wonderful family event. The children enjoyed the unicorn face painting whilst there was also a visit from Captain Jack Sparrow and a minion fancy dress.”

There were performances on the day from Jon Dafox, Docka Rowland, Danny Dearden, Kirsty Higgins, Jake Owens, Darrel Hanna, Billy No Mates, Cheeky monkey kids’ magician, Ronnie Scott, Gavin Yarker and Dean Rothwell.

In an event hosted by Love Life Entertainment, all staff from the Flying Horse worked free of charge whilst landlord Ben Boothman also supplied a free buffet, which was described as “wonderful”.
