Best GCSE results ever for St Cuthbert's

Holly Peel was the highest achiever at St Cuthbert's with eight A*s, one A** and one A. She is going on to study A levels in Maths, Further Maths, French and English Literature or Chemistry at Rochdale Sixth Form College. Holly said: “I am over the moon but shocked that I have done so well.”

Deputy head girl Elisa Iannidinardi got one A*, eight As and one B. She said: "I’m really happy. My teacher’s helped so much. I was quizzing them at dinner times and between lessons.” Elisa is going on to Rochdale Sixth Form to study A levels in Chemistry, Biology, French and Drama.

Prince Mukambilwa got three A*s, two As, 2Bs and one C. The deputy head boy said: “I am over the moon with my results. I am going on to Rochdale Sixth Form to study PE, Psychology and History or English Language. I’ll decide what my third subject will be now I’ve got my results.”

Head Boy Tom Bullock, is going on to Rochdale Sixth Form College to study Physics, Maths, Chemistry and an Extended Project Qualification. He said: "I got five A*s and 5 As. My results are quite good. I’m happy.”

Student Conor Jackson got five As and five Bs. He said: “I am going to study English Language, Maths, Biology and Law A levels at Rochdale Sixth Form. I’m happy. I worked hard so I feel good.”

Robert Dunn has not yet decided what to study in September but is hoping to study A levels in Physics, Film Studies and Drama. He said: "I was waiting to see what my results would be and I’m still getting to grips that I got these (two A*s and seven As). I wasn’t expecting it, I am ecstatic. A lot of teachers have helped me I wouldn’t have got these results except for my teachers.”

Dr Meehan, headteacher, said: "These are the best GCSE results ever in the history of St Cuthbert's RC High School. We are extremely proud of our young people and their results.

"There are some outstanding performances that reflect the hard work and commitment of our wonderful students and the extremely committed and highly skilled staff of St Cuthbert's.

"These results confirm that St Cuthbert's is not only a good school, according to Ofsted, but that our school is continuing to improve, going from strength to strength."
