Kentmere Academy soaring to success

Date published: 21 September 2016

As the new academic term begins, we look back on the achievements of Kentmere Academy and Nursery in the recent Key Stage 2 SATs exams.

Kentmere Academy has come a long way since its conversion to Academy status in 2015.

The academy has not been without challenges and there has been a lot of hard work in order to get to where the school is today.

The school converted to an Academy back in February 2015 and joined the Wardle Trust, a small Multi - Academy Trust based in the area.

Since joining the Wardle Trust, Kentmere Academy has taken several steps to move the school forward in order to develop the school and achieve the high standards that they have targeted.

The hard work paid off and the SATS exam results this year were the best results that Kentmere Academy has ever achieved.

The national average for the Key Stage 2 SATs results this year was a 52% pass rate - Kentmere Academy achieved 91%.

A spokesperson said: "This is an outstanding achievement that the school, staff and most importantly, students, should be proud of. Recently, details of academic progress among primary schools in England have also presented Kentmere in the positive light it has been working to achieve, with the school placing itself among the top five percent of schools nationally for academic progress in reading and maths.

"A big thank you to everyone who has supported the school over the past two years. These results show that the hard work is paying off and that Kentmere Academy is achieving above and beyond what is expected.

"As the school looks to the future, it is aiming to achieve outstanding status in its next Ofsted inspection (Government inspection of schools).

!The school is also looking forward to a number of upcoming events including the opportunity to tour the school on Tuesday 20 September."
