Pilgrimage to Lourdes

During the summer break Mrs Beisty, Mr Kenny along with Elissa Iniadinardi and Clareece Boluch Y11 pupils joined the Salford Diocesan Annual Pilgrimage to Lourdes as non-medical volunteers. While they were there Elissa and Clareece lit a candle in the grotto where St Bernadette appeared to Our Lady, for their fellow Y11 student Chloe Cockton who tragically lost her life just before the pilgrimage. Prayers were said for both Chloe and the family she left behind. Candles were also lit for the intentions of the whole St Cuthbert's Community.

Chaplaincy News

As part of our welcome to our new pupils, Year 7 form classes are taking it in turns to visit our lovely chapel for Morning Prayer with Mrs Ansley, our Lay Chaplain.
Each pupil is invited to light a candle and think about who we need to keep in our thoughts and prayers. It has been very encouraging to see our Year 7 pupils eager to volunteer for the readings and prayers and behaving so respectfully.
As well as beginning their day prayerfully and peacefully, it is an opportunity for pupils to learn about what happens in the chapel, find out about the different items and symbols they can see and how they can become involved in the faith life of our school community, wherever they are on their personal faith journey.

Jessica wins Gold!

Congratulations to our Year 7 student, Jessica Steele who attended the Karate World Championships in Newark last weekend. Jessica was beaming with pride as she informed us she has won Gold in the ‘Kata’ competition and Bronze in the fighting competitions. Jessica has only been involved in Karate for just over a year and is already experiencing great success. Well done Jessica!
