Exciting science at Deeplish Community Centre

Date published: 20 October 2016

Children, parents, and local councillors were entertained and inspired by the team from the Workers Education Association (WEA) performing science experiments with children and young people at Deeplish Community Centre on Thursday 13 October.

Rehana Mohammed and Richard Evans, WEA North West learning managers, welcomed all to the show.

Mr Evans started the science show introducing some science experiments and activities available to all children in the event.

The audience were shown many science experiments and how science is used simply on daily basis in our lives. Starting from gravity to energy children were shown what can be achieved just by using our own energy and heat.

All the participants were given the opportunity to perform some interesting and interactive experiments.

Rehana Mohammed thanked everyone for their participation and agreed to look into further events as requested by many parents and other groups present. She also mentioned the possibility of running a course for parents to learn more about science.

Sohail Ahmad, centre manager, thanked WEA mangers and tutors for making the evening an interesting and successful.

He said: “The purpose of this event was to inspire children and parents to take interest in learning about simple sciences and its practical implications.

“We hope to create such learning and enjoyable activities promoting positive action for our children and young people.

“WEA has been partner agency for Deeplish CC for long time in providing many short courses for the local community but this event will lead the partnership on to very exciting routes.”
