Date published: 06 December 2016

The Mayor Ray Dutton and Mayoress Elaine Dutton visited Kentmere Academy and Nursery to announce the winners from the recent ‘Mayor for a Day’ competition.

Aliza from Year 1 was chosen for her superb picture of the Mayor. Faseel from Year 5 was selected for his superb writing about what it would be like to be Mayor for the day.

Faseel was the overall winner of the competition for the whole of Rochdale and won prestigious tickets to the Mayoral Ball in April.

The Mayor and Mayoress toured the school and commented on the amazing displays and the children’s impeccable behaviour.

They enjoyed lunch with some of the pupils from our School Council and representatives from our prefects.

Headteacher, Mrs Sarah Isberg said: “We are very proud of all our children’s successes and achievements. This is a fantastic example of the excellent work that our students are achieving and we a very proud that Kentmere Academy has been recognised for it’s successes."
