St Cuthbert’s Rocks

Over 60 pupils from Years 8-11 were involved in last term's school production of Queen's We Will Rock You'. Pupils took part in a range of activities such as perform-ing, being part of the make-up team, helping the backstage crew and as front of house hospitality. This was a challenging show with 17 songs which kept the school show band busy.

The cast played to a full house every night with friends and family supporting the young performers. The four main characters were played by pupils in Yr 8 and 9. This was a huge responsibility for such a young cast but they met the challenge superbly. The Expressive Arts department are extremely proud of the pupils involved and were able to celebrate with students at the end of show party. A fabulous end to 2016.

After school intervention sessions are available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays, students are encouraged to attend if they have outstanding tasks or want to improve their grade.

They are also asked to in-clude musical influences which range from Beethoven to Pachelbel's Canon Media Studies: Year 10 pupils are preparing ideas for their own film trailers. They are re-searching professional trailers for inspiration to understand the media language used in their chosen genre.
  • Year 11: Raising Achievement and Progress The Y11 RAP team met on Tuesday to analyse the progress of Year 11. The team have been working hard to map out thera-pies for each student. These are designed to ensure that they make progress in line with their potential. The final slog for Y11 is about to begin and we are sure it will pay off.

Pastoral Rewards

Last week, 42 pupils from years 7/8/9 were rewarded for the exemplary behaviour they demonstrated during the first term with a trip to Chill Factore. Here they had the chance to take part in sledging, tobogganing, ski slope donuts and luging. Despite the sub-zero temperatures, all pupils really enjoyed the experience and are already looking forward to the Spring Reward trip at the end of this term. In addition to this, the first term’s Year 8 Attendance Dream Team Challenge was won by form 8.1

They were treated to a breakfast consisting of fresh fruit juices, Danish pastries and bacon and sausage butties.
