Gracie Greenwood’s family raise £700 for Derian House Children’s Hospice

Date published: 25 July 2017

Gracie Greenwood’s family have raised around £700 for Derian House Children’s Hospice in Chorley after walking from Rochdale to Walsden railway station on Saturday (22 July).

Her mum and dad, Lauren Doherty and Zak Greenwood, lead the walk, in memory of Gracie, from Mellor Street, Rochdale at 1.30pm to Grandma Pollard’s chippy near Walsden Station.

Gracie died in May aged 20-months after battling an inoperable brain tumour, just weeks after she became a big sister to Charlie, who was born at Derian House.

Joining Lauren and Zak were Star Whittle, Cody Whittle, Joe Reed, Jodie Jones, Chris Greenwood, Matilda Spek, Daniel Doherty, Katherine Metcalfe, Lilly Metcalfe, Hayley Poles, Sophia Poles and Bailey Poles.

Lauren said: “We’ve raised around £700 for Derian House, but we’re still collecting sponsor money.

“Everyone was brilliant, especially seven-year-old Sophia Poles. Two students from St Cuthbert's took part, Bailey Poles and Lilly Metcalfe, who were also amazing.”
