Blue Rose launches Christmas card competition

Date published: 16 September 2017

Blue Rose Gifts & Balloons has launched a competition - aimed at Heywood primary aged children - to design the 'Blue Rose Christmas Card 2017'.

The launch was held at St Luke’s Primary School were Kim Farrell, the head teacher, accepted the invitation to take part on behalf of her school.

The idea is that the children of Heywood’s 10 primary schools will each design a card.

A selection of each school’s entries will then be chosen by an independent panel of judges to be placed on display in the shop during early November giving parents and customers the opportunity to vote for their overall favourite.

The design with the most support will be professionally produced and become the official Blue Rose card that is given to customers and suppliers.

The most popular entry from each school will also feature on the rear of the card.

The independent judging panel will comprise of Councillor Ray Dutton (head judge), Derek Waddell of The Heywood Hospice Shop and Blue Rose regular Lisa Fryer.

Beverley Heyworth, owner of Blue Rose Gifts, said: “We have invited every primary school head in Heywood asking if their children would like to take part and have received a very favourable response.

"I am therefore hopeful that our young people will produce some fabulous festive images.

"This is a new initiative between the schools and Blue Rose which will help promote the true spirit of the Christmas season across our town.”
