Hollingworth Academy annual 'Maths Challenge' champions

Hollingworth Academy - winners of the Rochdale Sixth Form College annual Maths Challenge
Hollingworth Academy were crowned champions at annual Maths Challenge at Rochdale Sixth Form College.
Year 10 students from Hollingworth Academy, Falinge Park High School, Matthew Moss High School and Wardle Academy entered the 90-minute challenge.
Split into three rounds, the challenge included individual questions through to the more team problem solving, the sort of things they would tackle as a maths student at the college.
The standard was very high and the final marks were extremely close with Hollingworth Academy coming in just five points above the second place team.
Nicola Smith, Subject Leader for Maths at Rochdale Sixth Form College said: “This was our third year of hosting the challenge and it’s a fantastic way to celebrate and encourage our future mathematicians. The students all worked really hard and can be proud of their success, it was an extremely close competition.”
