Best friends lose weight to help the homeless

Date published: 25 May 2018

A Rochdale woman and her best friend have raised over £700 to help the homeless by shedding the pounds.

Adele Stretch, from Rochdale, and her best friend Wendy Connelly, from Whitefield, both 51,  chose to support the homeless charity Supporting People in Need  (SPIN) and lose four stone between them at the same time.

To date, the duo, who joined a Weight Watchers class in Whitefield, have raised £765 of their £1,000 target. They have pledged to match fund the donations if they have not reached this by 8 July.

Adele, who has lost just over two stone, and Wendy have known each other since they were eight years old and have been volunteering with SPIN for the last six years.

The charity provides food, shelter, clothing and additional to support to the homeless and people of Greater Manchester.

Eat Less Feed More is a campaign that aims to use all funds to support the homeless living on Manchester’s streets.
