Date published: 06 July 2018

A major fund-raising event took place at the Middleton Shopping Centre on Saturday 30 June, over £540 was raised for the Great Ormond Street Hospital and local charity Reuben’s Retreat.

Throughout the day, families were invited to take part in a charity tombola with many of the prizes donated by the shops and stores in the centre, including a silver necklace with heart pendant from Platt’s Jewellers, a pandora bracelet, charms from All Season with Carrol, tddies from Card Factory, Love Island smellies from Superdrug and soap and glory set from Boots.

Lynette Howgate, manager of the Middleton Shopping Centre, said: “It was an amazing day.

“As well the Tombola, we had face painting, balloons, sweets and craft activities for the youngsters.”

“We are thrilled that our shoppers digged so deeply into their pockets to raise so much money for these two very worthwhile charities.

“Donna Dodd and her mother Janet of Reuben’s Retreat were with us all day helping us hand out freebies and chatting to our customers.”
