A foster mum has been arrested over allegations she assaulted a toddler in her care.

The woman, who has been suspended from Rochdale Council, was caught on camera by a member of the public who filmed an alleged attack on the three-year-old child on a mobile phone.

The carer is understood to have worked for the council for several years, dealing with young children in need of emergency care.

Greater Manchester Police and Rochdale Borough Council have confirmed they are investigating the incident.

Police are now investigating reports that a three-year-old boy was kicked and hit on the head.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of common assault, and has been released on bail until April 6.
