Simon Danczuk apologises

Date published: 30 December 2015

Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk has apologised for being out having "fun" with his girlfriend whilst floods swept through Rochdale on Boxing Day.

Mr Danczuk caused outrage after his then girlfriend Claire Hamilton posted a picture on Twitter of the pair enjoying a night out rather than being back in Rochdale where his constituents needed him.

He has now apologised. In a column for the Rochdale Observer he wrote: “I would like to take this opportunity to personally apologise to those who felt I misjudged my immediate response to the floods and reassure my constituents that I have redoubled my efforts to make sure our town gets the help it needs to get back on its feet.”

Mr Danczuk currently refuses to return our calls.
