Robert McLean selected to be Conservative candidate for Littleborough Lakeside in local elections

Date published: 25 January 2016

Robert McLean has been chosen by the Conservatives as their candidate to contest the Littleborough Lakeside ward at May's local elections.

Mr McLean is a Rochdale man who was raised in the borough, and works within a social enterprise which manages healthcare centres in the borough and wider in Greater Manchester. He is married with two young daughters.

He said: “I am thrilled to have been selected to contest the Littleborough Lakeside ward in 2016. I have been really encouraged by the response I have received as I have been meeting residents in recent months and could not be more impressed by the way the community responded during the recent floods. Working alongside residents during the clean-up was a humbling experience and one that just cemented my desire to work as hard as I can for this community”.

Mr McLean has already been working with local residents on a variety of issues, including the concerns with the Smithy Bridge level crossing - he is involved in arranging a public meeting with representatives from National Rail.

Councillor Ashley Dearnley, the Leader of the Conservative group on Rochdale Borough Council, said: “I am delighted to welcome Rob and very impressed with the commitment and dedication he has shown to Littleborough already, working with the community and attending local events. He will be a hard working councillor always putting the interests of Littleborough residents first.”
