New Metrolink tickets introduced

Date published: 12 February 2016

A range of new Metrolink tickets, on the get me there mobile ticketing app, have been introduced.

The new tickets include single and return stop-to-stop tickets, along with a 28-day stop-to-stop travelcard – with no photo ID required – providing customers with a flexible digital travel option covering 99 per cent of all ticket sales.

Customers can download the free get me there app for Metrolink from the Apple app or Google Play stores, enabling them to pay for their tram travel anywhere and anytime before boarding – with no need to queue at a ticket machine.

Any ticket or travelcard purchased using the app is stored on the customer’s phone and simply shown to Metrolink staff on request, just like a printed ticket.

In addition, bus passengers are now able to top up their get me there bus travelcards at more than 1,000 PayPoint outlets.

Since the smart ticketing scheme was launched on buses in November 2015, more than 12,000 get me there smart cards have been issued and nine out of ten Greater Manchester buses are now smart-equipped and able to accept smart cards as part of the scheme.
