Resurfacing work to start on A663 Broadway

A663 Broadway, which links the A627M to the M60

A 1.5 mile stretch of the A663 Broadway, which links the A627M to the M60, is being resurfaced up to the junction with Foxdenton Lane to tackle chips, cracks and potholes - work starts on Monday 22 February.

Work will take place between 10.00pm and 5.00am, Monday to Friday, and until 7.00am at weekends.

Some overnight carriageway closures will be required, with clearly-signed diversions in place. Access for local residents will be maintained at all times.

The Highways England scheme will also include some structural repairs to concrete underneath the road, new sensors to monitor traffic levels, and a lower-noise surface.

Highways England’s project manager, John Lyssejko, said: “The new road surface we’re laying on the A663 will make journeys smoother and quieter, benefiting both drivers and nearby residents.

“We’re replacing the existing surface with a high-quality product and, although there is no such thing as a silent carriageway, we are confident it will be quieter for residents than the existing broken tarmac.

“We’ll do everything we can to minimise any inconvenience, and are carrying out the work overnight when traffic levels are at their lowest.”

The resurfacing scheme is due to be completed by the end of April.
