Murder investigation launched

Police investigating the death of a man in Rochdale have now launched a murder investigation and have made an arrest.

A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He is now in police custody for questioning.

Police were called to a flat in Town Mill Brow, College Bank Way at around 4.20pm on Monday (2 May) to reports that a man's body had been found.

Officers attended and discovered the body of 61-year-old man.

Formal ID has yet to take place but a Home Office post mortem has revealed that he died as a result of multiple injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Eales of GMP’s Major Incident Team said: "Our investigation is still in the early stages so we are still appealing for anyone who may have any information about the man’s death to contact police as soon as possible.”
