Rochdale votes to leave

  • Leave 62,014 (60%)
  • Remain 41,217 (40%)

Turnout: 65.97%

Council leader, Councillor Richard Farnell said: "I am disappointed with the result from Rochdale, however, it’s a national poll so it's what happens nationally that matters.

"It's still too early to say what the overall result will be but the decision of the people of Rochdale is quite clear and we have to respect that decision.

"I energetically campaigned for a remain vote but we have to listen to the public."

Remain supporter, Heywood & Middleton MP Liz McInnes, who was at the local count, refused to comment after the result was announced.
