Service users experiences of personal budgets from Adult Care gathered

Date published: 27 June 2016

Local people who are in receipt of a personal budget are being asked to share their experience of the Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC) Adult Care Service by highlighting any positive or negatives they have towards the personal budget process.

This gives service user the opportunity to have a voice and share information in a confidential and discrete manner to an independent Health and Social Care watchdog who champions the public’s voice.

A personal budget is the amount of money that a service user’s support package will cost RMBC to meet their social care needs. Before any funding is provided, RMBC Adult Social Care team complete an assessment as part of agreeing the service users personal budget and it is this process that Healthwatch Rochdale want to hear your experiences of.

RADDAG project manager, Sarah Cross said: “Following the abolition of the Independent Living Fund, we are aware of individual instances, where disabled people are struggling to maintain their independence, as their personal budget no longer allows for social activities.

"Please share your experience of the RMBC Adult Care Service personal budget process, by completing the questionnaire or attending the feedback event”.

Service users can share their experiences in a confidential manner via:

  • Questionnaire which can be accessed at:

    https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Personal_Budget_Survey

  • A 'Come and Share Your Experiences' event on Wednesday 2 June, from 10.00am until 12.00pm at St Andrew's Church, Enstwisle Road, Rochdale, OL16 2HZ.

  • A dedicated telephone number, 01706 249575, which is manned from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Friday where a staff member will take you feedback over the telephone.
