Danczuk hits the nationals... again!

Date published: 17 October 2016

Another weekend and more bizarre stories about Rochdale's MP Simon Danczuk in the national news.

The Sun reported in an article headlined 'Revenge porn shock' that Mr Danczuk had called in the police after "highly intimate pictures of him were circulated online".

When it transpired the photos showed only the MP's face, Mr Danczuk was accused by Tim Fenton, author of the Zelo Street blog which had published the photos, of wasting police time.

Twitter was awash with criticism of the "shameless" MP, with one poster taking him to task for "undermining the victims of real revenge porn".

In the Mail, columnist Dan Hodges claimed that Mr Danczuk was going to write to Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and demand he is reinstated to the Labour party (he is currently suspended for sending sex messages to a 17-year-old girl) or he will resign, force a by-election and run as an independent.

Mr Danczuk's 'threat' to resign and force a by-election prompted one disgruntled local Labour member to say: "Hogwash - do pigs take their snout out of the trough before all the swill is gone?"

Hodges claim that Mr Danczuk "is said to enjoy significant personal support in his constituency" was also greeted with a mix of incredulity and scorn.

The local satirical website, the Rochdale Herald, responded with an article headlined, 'Danczuk less popular than standing in dog s**t'.

Others took to social media asking Mr Danczuk to make good on his threat, begging the MP to "please resign".
