The sun shone in Littleborough for the Service of Remembrance (Sunday 13 November).

Hundreds of people descended into Littleborough Square to remember the men and women who have given their lives to protect our country.

The procession, led by Littleborough Public Brass Band, made its way down Hare Hill Road into the Square and included veterans, councillors, fire fighters, police, brownies, rainbows, cubs, Littleborough Cricket Club, Littleborough FC Juniors and Littleborough Rugby Club.

The service was conducted by Reverend Ian Bullock.

Two memorial plaques were unveiled in memory of Littleborough servicemen Pte Fred Stead, who lost his life in 1917, and Cpl Jack Stanley, who died in 2012.

After the main service, Pennine Councillors John Hartley, Ann Stott, Robert Clegg, Rina Paolucci, John Blundell and Janet Emsley visited the Shore Mills Memorial off Shore Road to lay a poppy wreath.
