Natasha’s mother said: “Natasha was kind-hearted and clever and was working towards her final year in university.

“This is a tragic waste of life of a lovely and beautiful daughter.”

Natasha’s sister, added: “My sister had a heart of gold.”

Posting online. Ashleigh Wild wrote: “Just found out the horrible, devastating news. I feel sick. I remember coming to your house when we were kids and playing games and having sleepovers. You were such a lovely girl with so much ahead of you. My heart is breaking for your mum and two sisters who have to go through the grieving all over again. R.I.P. Natasha, I hope you have held hands with your brother Alan once again. Sleep well.“

Chloe-Emma Jones wrote: “Absolutely horrified. You were one of my best friends in school, I remember the weekly sleepovers and fun we used to have. My heart breaks for your mum and family who are reliving all the grief and pain again. I hope you're with Layla and Alan now and are at peace, Tash. Fly high in paradise, beautiful.”

Zoe Bowker wrote: “I think I'm in too much shock to come to terms with the news- such a bright, amazing young girl taken too early. Family have been through so much, my heart goes out to you all. R.I.P. Tasha.”

Rolie McGarry wrote: “R.I.P. you beautiful girl, taken so young, you wouldn’t harm a fly. God bless sweetheart.”

Demi Jones wrote: “The world has lost a lovely girl and heaven gained an angel. Taken far too soon. My thoughts are with everybody affected by this horrible news. R.I.P. beautiful.”

It is understood that Natasha was 23 and worked at Matthew Moss High School where she was a former pupil. She had studied Special Educational Needs and Education Studies at Liverpool Hope University.

A spokesperson for Matthew Moss High School said: "It is with much sadness that we receive the terrible news about our friend and colleague, Natasha. A fantastic and much-loved member of our school community, both as a pupil and then as a member of the staff team, Natasha will be much missed. Our thoughts are with her family at this time."

One neighbour told Rochdale Online that Natasha and her partner moved into the property on Middle Hill in September this year and ‘kept themselves to themselves’. Upon hearing about the tragic incident, the landlord of the property declined to comment as he did not know the tenants.

Other residents of Middle Hill spoke about their shock, labelling the area as ‘quiet’.

A 31-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Jones of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This is a horrendous incident that has resulted in a young woman having her life taken away from her and a family heartbroken.

“We have a man in custody but our investigation is still very much in the early stages so I am appealing for anyone with information to get in touch with us.

“Natasha’s family are receiving specialist support from a team of officers and my thoughts are with them during these tragic circumstances.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 2506 of 28/11/16 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
