New Simulation and Clinical Skills Centre for The Royal Oldham Hospital

Date published: 02 December 2016

Construction has officially commenced on a new Simulation and Clinical Skills Centre built in the grounds of The Royal Oldham Hospital that will open for use in February 2017.

This project to enhance clinical training will help equip doctors, nurses, midwives and other clinical staff with the skills to provide quality driven, responsible and compassionate care to every patient both in hospital and out in the community.

Once open, the new centre will include a two-bay simulation ward, a one bay simulated acute setting, a large clinical skills room and two clinical training rooms. This wide variety of clinical settings means that all healthcare professionals, from all disciplines, will have the opportunity to access hands on training in an environment that reflects their clinical practice.

The centre will include a wide range of manikins, but in particular the centre is hoping to purchase a birthing simulator, which will enable help and support to be given to maternity services with relevant training packages.
