Council adult services sets the standard

The quality of care provided to thousands of residents by Rochdale Borough Council’s adult services team continues to be of a high standard.

Those were the findings of a national survey of council service users, which confirmed that the council gave high quality care to people across the borough throughout 2016 in the view of people surveyed.

For the third consecutive year the council’s adult services improved the satisfaction rating with service users, with over 90% feeling safe and secure.

There was a further boost, with eight out of ten service users who were surveyed praising the council for providing high quality information and advice.

Last year there were only 31 patient delays in discharge caused by social services – better than the Greater Manchester and England average.

The figures are set out in the council’s annual Local Account report which identifies key achievements and future investment plans.

In a further success over 80% of older people discharged from hospital to intermediate care were still at home 91 days after their discharge.

Councillor Iftikar Ahmed, cabinet member with responsibility for adult services, said: “We provide compassionate care and support day in day out to thousands of people who need and rely on our services.

“The fantastic figures are a credit to our hard-working staff and I am proud that people recognise the high quality services we provide day in day out. We have achieved much; many challenges await in 2017 and we are confident we can meet them.”
