Rochdale backs Riccardo to The Voice final

Date published: 15 July 2017

Rochdale’s latest singing sensation, Riccardo, is through to the semi-final of the The Voice Kids UK.

The talented singer has always had a passion for music, he was part of the school choir at Marland Hill primary school and he is part of the council’s music service.

Riccardo’s Voice Kids UK journey began with a stunning audition singing Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’, where all three judges turned round to snap up his talent.

Riccardo picked Pixie Lott to be his mentor on the programme and went on to deliver another stunning performance in the battles round with ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’.

Gail Hopper, director of children’s services at Rochdale Council congratulated Riccardo on his success so far, she said: “Riccardo has done fantastically well to get so far in this competition, we are all immensely proud of him. Our teachers and music service staff have commented on his talent for years and we all hope he gets the reward he deserves in winning.”

Nerves will be jangling as he enters the semi-final on Saturday 15 July (ITV1 19:30) where he will hope to progress to the final and be crowned the 2017 winner.

The final is on ITV1 19:10 Sunday 16 July and the winner will be decided by a public vote.
