Remembrance Sunday with the Royal British Legion at The Empire

The Empire and the Royal British Legion will be presenting a series of special live performances on Remembrance Sunday (12 November) after the service at the Rochdale Cenotaph.

All are invited to pay respects to those who have given their lives in defence of the country.

Collection tins will be placed around the venue and there will be a merchandise stall from the Royal British Legion.

Local 17-piece The Suburban Swing Orchestra, who specialise in big band and swing, will be playing, followed by party band ‘New Identity, who play everything from the sound of the 1960s right up to the present day, plus everything in between.

The Vinyl Countdown from local vinyl record DJs Jimmy Mush, Paul Thomson, and Jon ‘DaFox’ Riley, will consist of original vinyl records from most eras to suit everyone's tastes.

The event will be hosted by Revolution’s Dave Sweetmore.

Fresh homemade pie from AM to PM Catering will be on sale, plus free tea or coffee with a slice of cake.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets are not required and the event is free.

Remembrance Sunday parade schedule: 

  • 10.15am Organisations assemble at Yorkshire Street (St Mary’s Gate End)
  • 10.45am depart, heading down Yorkshire Street along Baillie Street and onto The Esplanade, arrive at Cenotaph.
  • 11am Rememberance service at the Cenotaph followed by march past in front of the Town Hall.
  • 12.00pm Live performances begin at Empire, Packer Street, Rochdale OL16 1NJ
