Woman cut free after three-vehicle collision which is affecting Edenfield Road

A 61-year-old woman had to be cut free from a vehicle by firefighters using specialised stabilising and cutting equipment after a three-vehicle collision in Edenfield, which is affecting traffic travelling on Edenfield Road in Rochdale.

The road is closed in both directions on the moors, with drivers reporting being turned back from the scene. Lancashire Police are still on the scene.

The collision occurred at 9.43am between a black Vauxhall Astra, a Jaguar S-Type and a Parcelforce van.

The injured woman has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital with a potential leg injury, and the driver of the van has been taken to Oldham Royal.

A spokesperson for Rossendale Police said: “We are currently dealing with a serious RTC on Rochdale Road, Edenfield. Road is closed to traffic in both directions at this time.”

UPDATE 3.15pm

The road is now fully open to traffic again.
