Witness appeal launched after collision

Lancashire Police are appealing for witnesses after several motorists were injured, including a 61-year-old woman from Norden, following a collision in Edenfield on Wednesday (15 November).

Around 9.30am a Mercedes Sprinter van was travelling eastbound on Rochdale Road, Edenfield, when it was involved in a collision with a Jaguar car.

A Vauxhall Astra, travelling behind the Jaguar, was also involved in a collision with the Mercedes.

The driver of the Jaguar, a 61-year-old woman from Norden, suffered a broken leg and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The Mercedes driver, a 35-year-old man from Chorley, was taken to Oldham Hospital having suffered a bleed on the brain.

A 48-year-old woman from Farnsfield, Nottinghamshire, driving the Vauxhall, was treated for minor injuries.

Police closed the road for five hours to allow accident investigators to attend the scene.

Temp Sgt Lee Harris, of Lancashire Police’s Roads Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Ramsbottom.

“Three vehicles have been involved with all the drivers involved suffering some form of injury.

“We are particularly keen to establish exactly what happened. If you witnessed the incident and can help with our enquiries, please call us.”
