Nationwide closed for improvements until February

Date published: 16 January 2018

Nationwide Building Society on Yorkshire Street is set to receive a makeover.

The branch will be closed until 10am on 15 February whilst ‘branch improvements’ are made.

The nearest branches are 39 High Street, Oldham and 16 Market Street, Bury.

Once it re-opens, the Yorkshire Street branch will be open a little earlier, now from 9.30am on Tuesday and close later on Saturdays, until 2pm. The improvements include open-plan meeting rooms, private pods and a community area with news about volunteering, a noticeboard for messages, plus books to read, and colouring-in area for children.

Free Wi-Fi and access to Internet Banking via iPads will also be provided, in addition to a direct high-definition video link to a whole team of Nationwide consultants and Personal Banking Managers.

A Nationwide spokesperson said: “At Nationwide, we’re committed to keeping branches on the high street, and to giving our members the best experience possible. This means providing branches that are modern, comfortable and easy to use – as well as introducing new services that make banking with us easier.

“For this reason, we’ll be closing the Yorkshire Street branch for four weeks between 12 January 2018 and 15 February 2018 in order to give it a fantastic new makeover. There will also be around six weeks of disruption once we re-open, while we work on the finishing touches.

“We hope that this short period of transition will be worth it, and that you’ll be as excited about the new facilities as we are.”
