Local campaigner calls for council to take action against fly-tipping

Date published: 14 February 2018

A local campaigner is calling for the Council to take action against persistent fly-tipping.

David Clayton says parts of the Kingsway ward have become a dumping ground, and is calling for action against those responsible.

He said: “Local residents are frankly at their wits’ end with this persistent problem. The alleys between Royds Street and Woodbine Street East have become a dumping ground for anyone not willing to go the tip or use their own waste bins. Young children play in these alleys and it has become so bad, mothers won’t let their kids out of the back yard any more.”

Mr Clayton added: “Residents of Kingsway deserve better than this.

“I have contacted Environmental Management to come help clean this up, but if there is evidence of who has done this then they should be prosecuted as they are quite literally putting lives at risk.”
