Jazz on Sunday returns to Castleton
Date published: 04 September 2008
Sunday 7 September sees the return of ‘Jazz On Sunday’ to its old roots at Castleton Sports Centre, Heywood Road, now the home of Rochdale Mayfield R.L.F.C and Rochdale Town F.C. The newly refurbished premises provide an ideal ground floor facility for staging concerts of traditional jazz emanating from New Orleans and Dixie, that have entertained the public of Rochdale and surrounding areas for 24 years.
The survival of the ‘Jazz Club’ depends on the attracting back the fans who have ‘fallen by the wayside’, and a younger audience who having heard the music, will want to return on a regular basis.
Organiser Tony Sheldon said: "I invite any young first timer to come along on Sunday and print this news article and bring it with them and half the charge of £6.00 will be refunded!"
