Rochdale Children's Moorland Home receives donation of Easter eggs

Date published: 03 April 2022

Donations of Easter eggs to the Milnrow and Newhey Sunday Pantry have been donated to the Rochdale Children’s Moorland Home.

The chocolate eggs were kindly given to the pantry by the Milnrow and District Women's Institute before being donated to the Moorland Home on Monday (28 March).

Volunteer Ken Hall joined Councillor Irene Davidson, who set up the pantry last year, in taking the eggs to Nab Farm.

Posting on Facebook, they said: “Thank you to the Milnrow and District Women's Institute for their contribution of Easter Eggs and chocolates; thank you for your very thoughtful contribution to help those in need.”

The Rochdale Children’s Moorland Home acts as a respite for children from disadvantaged families as well as offering a week’s holiday for disadvantaged children. Providing the children with an excellent environment to improve their social skills, this quite often the only opportunity that these children have for a holiday.

The Sunday Pantry was set up in January 2021 as a local foodbank facility. Originally operating from Butterworth Hall, it later moved to St James’ Church. It is open every Sunday 12noon-2pm and every Wednesday 6-7pm.

Heather Bibbington, fundraising lead for Rochdale Children’s Moorland Home, said: “We are extremely grateful for the Sunday Pantry’s donation of Easter eggs and dental supplies for the visiting children. I am sure they will enjoy the Easter Eggs especially. We receive no government funding and rely solely on donations.”
