Prom dreams come true, thanks to Boohoo

Date published: 14 May 2023

Fashion retailer Boohoo recently supported girls from five high schools – including Wardle Academy – by providing prom dresses to those who might not have had a dress for the special occasion.

Boohoo hosted a pop-up prom dress at their ‘Boohootique’ staff shop site in Burnley, where they provided 35 dresses for students from Wardle Academy and four Burnley schools.

The staff shop was cleared out for the one-off event before being transformed into a prom dress shop of dreams, where girls from all five schools had a wonderful time being able to pick their dress.

Following this, Boohoo also provided the girls with goodie bags to take home, full of makeup, perfumes and accessories to make that prom day a little bit more special and memorable.

Sophie Clark, Boohoo’s communications and engagement advisor, came up with the idea so that no girl had to miss out on the big high school event.

She explained: “Prom day is special to so many people, yet due to the financial pressures faced by so many, I know people would struggle. Therefore, being able to offer some families a little more support where possible was something I was keen to help achieve.

“We worked with Calico who aim to make difference to the quality of life of individuals and the wider communities, they contacted the schools and then we liaised directly once the initial contact was made. Each school chose a number of girls based on their home situation.”
