£5,000 in cash was seized at a property in Rochdale
A man in his 20s was arrested in Rochdale yesterday (Thursday 1 February 2024) on suspicion of fraud by false representation and money laundering.
The arrest was conducted part of GMP's Economic Crime Unit week of action highlighting an increase of dedicated resources deployed to prevent fraud and also to target those suspected of committing economic crimes such as money laundering, in a bid to make Greater Manchester a safer place.
Following an early morning warrant at a property in Rochdale, £5,000 in cash was seized after being found hidden in one of the bedrooms in the property, .
Detective Inspector Tim Flint, of GMP’s Economic Crime Unit, said: “We work to put a stop to criminal’s finances as this can often be used to further criminality and violent organised crime in our communities.
"We will continue and carry on targeting those suspected to be involved in money laundering and fraud and aim to seize their assets and cash so they can be reinvested into the communities of Greater Manchester and funnelled to those who need it through The Asset Recovery Incentivisation Scheme.”
