Woman taken to hospital after falling down an embankment at Hollingworth Lake

A woman has been taken to hospital after falling down an embankment at Hollingworth Lake on Monday (19 February).

Emergency services were called at around 1pm over concern for the welfare of a woman – whose age has not been revealed – at the lake.

The fire service rescued the woman after sending two fire engines from Chadderton and Littleborough fire stations, the water incident unit from Heywood fire station, and the technical response unit from Leigh fire station.

A spokesperson said: “Firefighters using a drone, working alongside colleagues from North West Ambulance Service, rescued a woman who had fallen down an embankment. Crews were in attendance for around one hour.”

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed the woman was taken to hospital “with injuries not believed to be life-threatening or changing.”

The ambulance service has also been contacted for comment.
