Rochdale born DJ gets suspended sentence

Date published: 16 December 2008

Rochdale born DJ Andy Kershaw has been given a suspended six month prison sentence after he breached a restraining order which banned him from contacting his ex-girlfriend earlier this year.

He had already served a jail term for contacting Juliette Banner, from Peel on the Isle of Man, this year but the 49-year old was arrested yesterday (Monday 15 December) following another breach of the order in September.

The six month sentence has been suspended for two years on the condition that Kershaw attends anger management classes and drug and alcohol awareness courses.

Ms Banner is the mother of Kershaw's two children.

He served 44 days in jail at the start of the year for contacting her and was arrested for breaching the order again just three days after he was released.

Earlier this year Manx High Bailiff Michael Moyle advised him to leave the Isle of Man and live with his mother in Rochdale so that he could sort out his personal problems.
