Keith's at it again; another 10K for cancer charity

Date published: 24 March 2009

Middleton rotary club member Keith Trinnaman is once again preparing for the Manchester 10K Run and this time he is dragging some fellow rotarians along with him.

The father of two completed the run last year and this May he will be part of a team of ten in the race to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Charity.

"There are actually five of us from the club alongside five other friends and family," explained Mr Trinnaman. "We're all at different stages of running; I did it last year and I've been training hard in the gym, whereas our club president Norman is nearly 70 so he might have to take it easy. We're hoping we all start the race together, but I doubt we will all finish at the same time!"

The group are hoping to raise more than £2500 for the charity.

"I'm confident we can do it," said Mr Trinnaman. "Our first target is £2500 but hopefully we'll get beyond that through individual donations."

Last year the Middleton rotarian raised £1670 for the Macmillan cancer charity and he looks back on the event with fond memories.

"The whole experience, from the training to the day itself, was a tremendous journey for me, filled with emotion. It was tinged with great sadness because I lost my sister to cancer in the build up. She was the reason I did the run and I hope that the money I raised just helped Macmillan make things a little easier for others through the great work that they do."

The Manchester 10K Run takes place on Sunday 17 May.
